I admit, playing blackjack and roulette can be fun, but it’s a mugs game. People gamble because they get pleasure from risk and the thrill of potentially winning.

In business, we don’t want to gamble. Sure when your are successful and wealthy you can do want you want with your money and even gamble it away if you want to, but your business shouldn’t be a gamble.

I’ve heard some gurus say you can never tell which products are going to stick and sell well on ebay and to a certain extent that is true. If you throw enough spaghetti against the wall, some is bound to eventually stick.

However, there is a way to make sure that when you are trying to sell new products on ebay that the odds are in YOUR favor.

It’s called RESEARCH

And yes that might sound boring and doesn’t give you the instant thrill and satisfaction that playing blackjack can give you, but doing your research will prove far more profitable in the long run than getting a quick fix that lasts only for a few moments.

When you research ebay markets and find out what unique products are selling in different niches, you can turn the odds in your favor because your more likely to have a best selling product on ebay if you sell a similar product or better product in a small targeted niche that you have researched. The deeper you dig the more you will discover and that will turn the odds in your favor.

You start with what is already selling. You find out what is in demand without too much competition and chose to sell in a niche where certain types of products are in demand and you can easily join the selling crowd in that niche and pick up sales.

Do this a few times over and you have a few products selling well with some profit you can reinvest into your business.

Is it easier to ‘carpet bomb’ ebay and list lots of products hoping one or two will stick or is it better to do a little research before hand? Let me know what you think by posting a comment below..

eBay used to be flooded with eBooks and information products and many eBay sellers sold ebooks for very low prices to boost feedback scores and to make money on autopilot.

Once an eBay store was setup and the delivery of the downloadable ebooks was automated simply by setting up an email link to download the ebook that was sent to the buyer after the sale, made selling ebooks a very attractive automated income stream.

But that all stopped when eBay changed the rules. eBay felt that digital products was not their main target audience and they wanted their site to be more like an Amazon style site that only sold physical products.

So what happened to all the ebook sellers?

Well, some closed up shop and walked away, some found other physical products to sell and some took initiative and changed the way they sold information products to suit eBay’s new rules.

By simply burning the ebook onto a cd, a digital ebook became a physical product that could be sold on eBay.

Yes it did mean that the process of selling could not be fully automated but that was offset by the fact that you could easily increase the price for the cd rather than selling a low cost digital ebook.

I don’t agree that ALL ebooks should be sold on eBay this way but only those that are unique, original and have some benefit for the buyer. People don’t like to buy re-hashed garbage but I do agree that if you can create an information product that shows others how to do something only you or a few others know how to do then why not share that information and burn it to a CD? You can even record videos and MP3’s and sell those on CD. Buyers can watch the videos on their PC or even their iPhone.

Have you thought about selling your own information product on eBay? Do you have experience or expertise in something you think other people might want to know about? Maybe you are already selling products on eBay to a specific niche and you could offer an information CD to that niche that teaches tricks and short-cuts on how to use the products you sell.

For example..

If you sell gardening tools how about a gardening tips cd?
if you sell clothes how about a brochure on cd?
If you sell electronics, how about a how to fix something cd?
if you sell wooden furniture, how about a how to take care of your furniture cd?

If you do have expertise in something, why not create an information product and burn it to a cd to resell on eBay. Do you sell information products on eBay or do you have an idea for an information product to sell on eBay. Maybe you used to sell digital ebooks on eBay? Let me know by replying below, I’m really interested to know what you think..

I received an email from a wholesale supplier today and I was about to hit the delete button when..

It was obvious the email was from a Chinese supplier trying to sell me something. They most probably didn’t have my permission to send me this email because I didn’t opt in to receive the email. In this instance I would usually just hit the delete button straight away since I didn’t recognize the supplier, the name, or who the email was from, or the product that was being offered in the title of the email. On this occasion however, I decided to give this one a chance and I opened the email.

The product being offered was something I’d never heard of and the email didn’t even explain what the product was used for. It was called a ‘dermol roller’ and sounded like some type of medical device.

Curiosity won over me and I clicked through to the supplier’s website. After reading the product description on the supplier’s website I was still none the wiser as to what this contraption was used for. The sales information was in broken English and I really lost interest pretty quickly after I discovered it used some sort of needle that penetrates the skin for health reasons. There is no way I would even consider looking to import such a product without knowing exactly what this thing was used for, or without having an understanding of the requirements and regulations for importing such a device. As I was just about to close the website browser something caught my eye.

Down on the left hand corner of this website was a link to another product that I had heard of. It was an ion detox foot spa. I quickly did a search on ebay.com for ‘ion detox foot spa’ and discovered these things were selling pretty well and at around 150usd each. These small and reasonably lightweight items were interesting.

I’ve sent for pricing information to determine whether these things are worth pursuing. But it just shows how you can stumble across products that could be a hot best selling product on eBay. You might be asking yourself why I share this confidential information with you, that other seller’s wouldn’t dream of disclosing. It’s because I care, and I want you to succeed on eBay as I have done so for years.

I stumbled upon this product today and who knows, maybe I’ll most probably stumble across another tomorrow! I don’t expect you to reveal your selling secrets like I do, but it would be great to hear what you think? Am I foolish for telling you my product ideas, or am I confident that I can do it over and over again. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts..

Ebay is an incredibly huge worldwide marketplace where products are bought and sold every second. When you start your ebay business or are looking to start a new product line, how do you know which are the best products to sell on ebay that will make you the most money in the least amount of time?

Which ever products you chose to sell it will most probably take you the same amount of time and work to do the research, sourcing of wholesale products, organizing your images and photos and writing listing descriptions to sell a hot selling product as it would to sell products that are not as successful. So you want to make sure you chose a product that is going to sell quickly with good profits. Here is a criteria for selecting the best items to sell on ebay;

Chose small lightweight products where possible but don’t sell exactly the same as someone else unless you can add value to that product.

Consumable products – products that are consumed and used up so the buyer will be looking to replace the product time and time again, giving you the opportunity to sell to the same buyer again and again. Examples of consumables include printer ink, batteries, office stationary and also things like car polish.

Products that can be bundled together in packs or use add on products which you can cross sell and up sell the buyer, once the original product is purchased. For example, someone who buys an electric toothbrush will probably need replacement toothbrush heads as well.

Products that are unique or have a unique selling point in comparison to other products which are already selling well.

The first product you think of usually isn’t the best product to sell on ebay so do your research first

Finally and for some, this might be the most difficult for most sellers to adhere to and that is to sell products which are successful but cannot be sourced, sold or copied by other sellers easily. This makes it harder for any competitors to enter your market selling the same products as you. My ‘eBay Product Mastery’ course shows you in detail, exactly how to do this. When you can fulfill this criteria point when choosing your products to sell you can potentially dominate any market on ebay.

Invest a little time into researching your niche or market you are thinking about entering before buying your stock. This will make sure you’re not buying a ‘dud’ product and that your new products have the best possibility of success to make money on ebay, over and over again.
